3 “R’s” To You! © 2007 Heart Tones
T
his New Year will present many new challenges and opportunities—at the least. Hoping for a chance to begin anew or to start over is a common desire and most of us embrace the words, “Happy New Year” as a ticket to do so. Relationships in your life play a key role in the “happy” part of your new year.
So often, people are not what we want them to be and they do not do what we want them to do. They can disappoint us and disrupt us at times, yet we find that we can’t live without them. People do make the world go round. The imperfections we all have are the catalysts for teaching us life lessons on humility, forgiveness, and compassion.
As you look closely at the relationships in your life, I propose the 3 “R’s” to you:
1. Recognize…the good in others. Let them know that you do. Tell them. We all want to be acknowledged and we need to hear it and feel it.
2. Receive…the good from others. Sometimes we have difficulty accepting from others due to our own misconceptions about ourselves. Allow others the chance to give to you and be gracious and thankful for it.
3. Reciprocate…the good to others. Plant good seeds of kindness, appreciation and respect in your relationships. What you sow, you reap.
When you recognize, receive and reciprocate the good in your relationships, you will benefit. That benefit may not come from others, but will emanate from the universal principles of God—and every gift of God is GOOD.
