Tell A Friend About Us:

Who Is Speaking Into Your Life, Ladies?

W omen who look outside of themselves for direction in life can sometimes listen to the wrong voices in guiding their decision-making. The traditional teaching that women are to be submissive to men and authority can also interfere with a woman's choice of who to listen to.

Some women rely entirely on their friends for advice, which can wind up being the worst move they could make. Just because someone says they are your friend, doesn't make it true. It's great to have people in your life that you can seek out for guidance or direction, however, it is important to be mindful that not everyone has your best interest at heart.

Has someone ever said to you, "You shouldn't do that" or "I wouldn't take that if I were you?" You may have felt compelled to listen and act accordingly, even when you sensed within yourself that what was said may not be the best thing for you to do.

Before you accept well-meaning advice, here are nine (9) questions to help you determine who speaks into your life:

1) Does this person have a vested interest in my life?
2) Have they been there for me in real times of need?
3) Have their past actions shown concern for my well-being without some condition or requirement to reciprocate?
4) Do I trust them?
5) What's going on in their life? Is it questionable or admirable?
6) Is the information being offered to me coming from a reliable experience or knowledge base?
7) Is there some hidden motivation or benefit to them based on the decision I make?
8) Will it fulfill something they want or need from me at my expense?
9) Is there interest or comments genuinely directed for my good or for theirs only?

Being able to distinguish between good and not-so-good advice makes a big difference in the outcomes you experience in life. You have a right and responsibility to know who is speaking into your life and why they are doing so. Ultimately, your decisions affect you. Closely examine the voice of others and don't discount the inner voice of your own soul.
