Tell A Friend About Us:

Moments of Clarity
By Stacy Ruttan

T here are short segments of time that I call "moments of clarity" or "enlightenment". These moments are the times when we have an experience that forces us to take a good, hard look at exactly what we believe, and whether or not we want to continue believing this way. These moments don't happen very often, so when they do it is usually a big wake up call from above! And it's advisable to be as open as possible to whatever you may need to learn from them.

Your beliefs and values have been instilled in you from the time you were a baby. It is important to have a set of beliefs. Our beliefs touch almost every area of our lives. They help us to interpret our experiences in life, and assist us in creating our boundaries. It is also important to know that we CAN change what we believe.

Questioning your established value system is an important and rewarding step on your spiritual path. It gets you consciously thinking about where you have been, where you are and where you want to be. Because our values and beliefs have a great deal to do with our reality, it is a good idea to "clean house" regularly.

If you are in the process of questioning your beliefs, you are not alone! Many other people are running the same obstacle course and reaching the other side with beliefs and values that serve them better - until the next obstacle course. (YES! This is an ongoing process!)

The most important part of looking at our beliefs is being TOTALLY honest. If you're faced with a value that you don't like, take the time to figure out how to change it to serve you better. If you don't feel you can change it, find a way to release it. Usually, just intending to change a belief is enough to get the ball rolling in the right direction. Take my advice please! Do not try to hide from what you see as "bad" or "negative" beliefs because they have a way of coming back to haunt you!

I myself have been faced with this challenge! When I find a "negative" belief it is difficult not to just sweep it under a rug somewhere and ignore it, but it will never go away. It is, however, very freeing to be able to accept and then release or transform these unwanted beliefs. Knowing that you have the choice about WHAT you believe is very empowering. It opens up whole new worlds of experience, possibility and knowledge.

Fortunately, this process tends to lead you to the deep-seated knowing that everything happens for a reason, and that we create our own reality in this life. It also helps us to see that everything we experience is a chance to learn something new about ourselves and our beliefs. Sometimes it even leads us to the conclusion that we are each responsible for only our own actions, and no one else's.
