s humans we have the potential to have a dynamic, exciting and awe-inspiring experience. Your life is yours to design—step-by-step. Your thoughts are powerful forces in the creation of your experiences in life. Feelings follow thoughts. Thoughts precede feelings.
Each day you make choices that influence the character of your experiences, and your decisions direct whether your path is exciting, tedious, breathtaking or wearisome. You can create an exciting life by doing what excites you whenever you choose. Passions may ebb and flow, and what excites you now may not excite you forever, but that is understandable because you are an evolving soul—emotionally and spiritually. However, when you create exciting experiences as a routine part of your existence, you life becomes more fun and more fulfilling.
Excitement might seem as strange as wearing your shoes on the opposite feet—very uncomfortable and awkward, if you are someone—who tends to live practically and methodically. To ease the uncomfortable and awkward feelings, acknowledge that you deserve to have more for yourself, your life matters every moment. When you choose to do things that excite you, even if your choices require you to make some sacrifices, your life will be imbued with exhilaration, pleasure and optimistic anticipation.
To learn what excites you, you may need to observe and ponder your reaction to the myriad of activities, events, situations and concepts which are your life now. Ask yourself these questions:
• What makes my heart beat faster with excitement—if not currently—when I was younger?
• What prompts me to charge ahead on a project?
• What prompts me to say, ‘Yes,’ to an invitation to join someone in an activity?
• What activities does my family and friends engage in that I have thought about doing, but held myself back?
• What activities, vacations, or projects have you heard about on TV, movie or in magazines/newspapers that sound appealing?
After you have completed a list of what excites you, find ways to integrate them into your routine. Avoid getting wrapped up in life’s details—avoid thinking—I can’t because of this, that or something else. Think about how you ‘CAN,’ integrate them into your routine. You will be surprised at how easily it can be done, if you give it some concentrated thought.
“Every choice we make, every thought and feeling we have, is an act of power that has biological, environmental, social, personal and global consequences.” –Caroline Myss
After you have experienced these new activities, you will readily find yourself riding a wave of excitement and enthusiasm that lifts you up and makes your life an exciting adventure and worth living to the fullest.
