ere's another savvy business woman who saw a need, got an idea and ran with it. We're talking about Gina Bruno, namesake for the Gina B. International collection of functional laptop bags. They're hot, hip, classy and edgy all at the same time. But wait, they're not just for laptops! Collection for you. Gina took time out of her busy schedule to talk to Surewoman.
What made you decide to design your own collection of laptop bags for women?
A frequent business traveler, I spent my share of time in airport security
and luggage check-in lines. One thing I repeatedly noticed was how other
professional women transported their laptop computers.
I witnessed two different scenarios. There were the polished
businesswomen extremely well put together carrying bulky, black, nylon bags
that were obviously designed with a man in mind. And, then there were the
polished businesswomen extremely well put together carrying their laptops in
unpadded Louis Vuitton or Kate Spade purses.
What I didn't see were women carrying laptop bags that were both
functional and fashionable. This gave me the seed of an idea that would
later develop into gina b. international, LLC.
Encouraged by my fiancée, now husband Jay, I quit my sales job at a
surfwear clothing manufacturer, and focused full-time on creating a line of
stylish laptop handbags.
Are they just for laptops?

The best part about the gina b. collection is that each bag is designed to
accommodate up to a 15.4" laptop computer and a host of business and
personal essentials. However the goal of gina b. is to design each style so
that it looks more like an everyday handbag than a laptop bag. In the newest
gina b. collection, we designed two styles with removable laptop sleeves to
that the customer can choose to carry her laptop in the tote or on its own
with the removable sleeve. I personally carry Bella as my every day handbag
and love it because it is large enough to hold everything that I need and it
organizes the items that I need at my fingertips! My mom uses her Gracie bag
as her carry on when she travels since she does not have a laptop. There are
so many ways to use a gina b. bag! It is truly a multi-functional bag!
It seems like celebrities like your bags, what kind of woman buys a gina b.?
Actually, Heather Graham has a gina b. laptop handbag in white and Kristen
Cavallari from the MTV reality television show "Laguna Beach" recently
donated her white Capriccio bag in the October issue of "Seventeen Magazine"
to help raise money for breast cancer research.
I feel that the gina b. laptop handbags meet an unaddressed need of all
tech-savvy women - business professionals, students, and homemakers alike.
A large part of my goal is to educate women that there are fashionable
options available that allow her to show her sense of style without being
too 'frilly' or 'girly.'

Are you going to branch out into regular handbags?
At this time, gina b. international is focusing its efforts on creating the
perfect laptop handbag. The long-term goal for the business is to establish
the brand in the market place to where 'gina b.' will hopefully become a
well-known, reputable name like 'Kate Spade' or 'Coach.' While we work to
establish the brand, gina b. will continue to offer new and innovative
designs of laptop handbags, concentrating on the ideal blend of fashion and
function.
You got a great idea and you ran with it, what would you say to a woman
thinking of taking her great idea to the next level?
